As a Trans Mountain Pipeline Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for ensuring effective functioning of the field operations of the pipeline integrity program for Trans Mountain Pipeline (TMPL).  The position plays a central role in the completion of the field portion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline integrity program. 

 

The Pipeline Maintenance Technicians perform both pipeline maintenance operational work as well as inspection duties.  This position is responsible for ensuring effective functioning of the field operations of the pipeline integrity program for TMPL and Puget Sound.

 

Reporting location is Sumas Terminal, reporting to the Supervisor, Pipeline Integrity. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee hot work activities including pipe replacements, hot tapping, stoppling and in-line inspections. 
  • Provides oversight of contractors performing anomaly digs and other ground disturbance activities on or near right of way’s to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, procedures and regulations.   
  • Provides oversight of Trans Mountain right of way vegetation management program (Right of way clearing and signage program).         
  • Operation of commercial vehicles over 11,000 kgs gross vehicle weight and heavy equipment (dozers, excavators, rubber tire backhoe).  Ensures all equipment is in compliance with local laws and regulations.       
  • Oversees civil construction activities (excavation, compaction, backfilling, water handling and rip rap armor construction)   
  • Coordinates civil construction activities for Cathodic Protection asset installation.             
  • Coordinates facility and ground maintenance activities including grounds maintenance and snow removal.              
  • Provides emergency response capabilities to right of way locations.

 

 

Qualifications and Professional Requirements:

  • High School completion.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in related field of pipeline construction or maintenance, civil construction experience, combined with commercial vehicle operation.
  • Class 1 Driver’s License will be required to be obtained, commercial vehicle driving experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in the operation of Heavy Equipment and or Crane Operation experience.
  • NACE Coating Inspector I certification would be preferred.
  • CWB : CSA W178.2 welding inspector certification level 1 recommended.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for effective collaboration with team members across various trades.
  • Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
