A Trans Mountain Electrical Technician will be expected to provide Operational Support in a multi-skilled work environment that promotes public safety, environmental stewardship and pipeline integrity. In this role, the Electrical Technician would be required to utilize maintenance tracking software to manage, document and verify the functional integrity of protective devices, valve actuators, mainline motors and high voltage infrastructure. A Trans Mountain Electrical Technician will also provide Operational & Emergency Response support to ensure public safety, environmental stewardship and integrity compliance.
The Electrical Technician will follow a shift-schedule of 12 Hours per shift on a day / night rotation. This position will be based at the Burnaby / Westridge Terminal location and will report to the Operations Shift Supervisor.
Job Duties associated with this position include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission and maintenance of low and high voltage electrical systems.
- Trouble-shoot electrical circuits, communication networks and control equipment with associated software, schematics, files and drawings.
- Support and perform programming and troubleshooting of Local Operator Interfaces, Programmable Logic Controllers and associated control systems.
- Perform and document Electrical asset maintenance as defined by maintenance tracking software, ensuring system reliability and integrity.
- Analyze, interpret and utilize the information contained in SCADA, HMI displays and P&ID drawings to ensure the safe operation of facilities.
- Support Emergency Response initiatives and be required to take training in these areas.
- Provide Operational support to ensure throughput and system reliability.
- Provide Operational support for marine vessel mooring and release activities.
- Assisting other technical groups as needed, including, but not limited to, maintenance and operations.
- Participate in Emergency response exercises and scenarios.
- Provide contractor oversight and monitoring.
Qualifications and Professional Experience:
- High School completion.
- Journeyman Electrical Certificate (Red Seal and TQ endorsement) is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in an industrial environment.
- Instrumentation Red Seal endorsement would be an asset.
- Understanding of Canadian Electrical Code requirements.
- Understanding of Process Control would be an asset.
- Previous Electrical Experience and training working with Motor Controls, VFD’s, High Voltage Equipment and Hazardous. location installations as defined by the CEC (Canadian Electrical Code).
- Commissioning and Start-Up experience would be an asset.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
- Availability to be on call as part of an on-call rotation.
- Proficient in Microsoft D365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
- Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Support Overtime as required.
