Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Project Manager, Pacific Link. In this position, you will play a key role in leading the planning and development of new Pacific Link facilities, including pump stations and terminals, while working closely with the Project Director and a multidisciplinary team of internal resources and external consultants. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in project development, stakeholder alignment, project execution planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and contractor management. This position offers the opportunity to shape the development strategy for critical infrastructure assets, lead to complex project planning activities, and contribute to the successful delivery of the Pacific Link Project.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily guidance to the Project Team members.
  • Develop the Project Execution Plan.
  • Work in collaboration with the Construction Manager, Facilities as the Construction Execution Plan is developed.
  • Develop bespoke estimates and schedules for the assigned facility construction locations.
  • Ensure the Stage Gate process and all other applicable processes developed and followed.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with the internal stakeholders at the appropriate time to ensure alignment and progress during proposal development.
  • Identify the need for specialized external consulting in collaboration with SCM to ensure quality, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Effectively manages the performance of external consultants to ensure that deliverables are provided in line with development schedules and timelines.
  • Ensure planning documents and other deliverables achieve the required levels of completeness and quality at various Stage Gates.
  • Ensures that facility design undergo rigorous constructability reviews and that constructability considerations have been appropriately included in estimates and risk assessments.
  • Ensures that the appropriate amount of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning strategies have been identified, evaluated, and selected to appropriately balance cost and risk, and are considered in estimates, schedules, and risk assessments at the appropriate time.
  • Ensure that the appropriate amount of environment, health, and safety (EH&S) and quality strategies have been considered in estimates, schedules, and risk assessments at the appropriate time.
  • Creates and delivers quality reports and presentations on project development organization, plans, activities, deliverables, and results, as necessary.

 

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • P.Eng. designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in project management, construction management, or the planning and execution of complex capital projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

 

Working Conditions

  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
