Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

 

As a Budget Administrative with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of financial professionals. This position is based in our Calgary office.

 

The successful candidate will be Responsible for supporting operating budget owners, Project Managers and the Budget Analyst with various budgeting and forecasting functions as well as all cost aspects of operating projects. Primary contact for budgeting/forecasting activities, operating project ID creation in D365 and provide back-up support for purchase requisition creation, receiving and invoice issues for the Technical Services & Engineering department.

 

Key Deliverable/Responsibilities

  • Main point of contact for all aspects of budgeting and forecasting for Project Managers and budget owners
  • Provide guidance to Project Managers on the proper allocation of project costs by making informed decisions following both accounting principles and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to provide monthly actuals to forecast variance explanations to finance.          
  • Liaise with Project Managers to gather and submit monthly invoice/estimate accruals.
  • Assist with operating project ID creation in Microsoft D365
  • Perform frequent reviews of RC accounts/project ID's and submit coding corrections when necessary
  • Provide support for all month end, quarter end and year end accounting deadlines
  • Review all purchase requisition requests prior to entry in Microsoft D365 ensuring financial dimensions and project ID's are accurate and commitments are within budget.
  • Provide back up support for purchase requisition entry in Microsoft D365, including bid waiver creation and see through to approval.
  • Liaise with the Procurement group and assist with any purchase requisition issues
  • Support Project Managers and vendors and work through issues to support the 3-way match process regarding daily/weekly LEM submissions.
  • Research and resolve account payable issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate with vendors to help resolve billing issues.
  • Assist with change order requests to Purchase Order’s when required and provide back-up support for other areas within the group

 

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education training in Financial and/or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial administrative support role, preferably in an oil and gas or industrial environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience in a P2P and 3-way match business environment is an asset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, using VLOOKUP, Pivots, Match, etc.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Cognos TM1 is a definite asset.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.
