We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious student to join our team as a Business Intelligence Analyst, Summer Student. The successful candidate will work closely with our Business Intelligence (BI) team to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in designing and implementing BI solutions to help our organization make data-driven decisions. This is a great opportunity for a student with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an interest in data visualization best practices and techniques, and a passion for understanding how organizations adapt to the ever-changing business landscape to gain practical experience in the field.


This position is based in our Calgary office and reports to the Manager BI, Data & Integration.

Duration: May 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in gathering and analyzing business requirements to design and develop BI solutions;
  • Help to create and maintain reports and dashboards to present data to stakeholders;
  • Work on data quality controls and data governance processes;
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure data accuracy and completeness;
  • Monitor and troubleshoot BI systems and perform regular maintenance; and
  • Keep up to date with new BI technologies and industry trends.


Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field with an accredited post-secondary institution, preferable entering third year or higher;
  • Courses or experience in data modelling, integration, and reporting considered an asset;
  • SQL skills and experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView considered an asset;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Proven experience in dynamic and challenging environments and ability to adapt to shifting priorities;
  • Skilled in multitasking with excellent organizational and time management capabilities;
  • Strong interpersonal and communicative abilities to effectively collaborate within a team setting;
  • Dedicated to fostering and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Attention to detail and aptitude for identifying areas of improvement and assessing impacts.


Other Requirements and Information:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution and return to full time studies in the Fall
