Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As a Corporate Communications, Summer Student with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced group of Communications and Public Affairs experts. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience for their future employment portfolio and will be exposed to project management and working with third-party vendors.

 

This position is based in our Calgary office and will report to the Manager, Internal Communications. 

Duration: May 1, 2023 to August 31, 2023

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support research and writing for Trans Mountain’s 70th anniversary communications;
  • Support a variety of communication initiatives, including work associated with the recent launch of the corporate SharePoint-based intranet;
  • Support the day-to-day operations of Trans Mountain’s intranet including developing content, ensuring the existing content is relevant and up-to-date and supporting other efforts to enhance user experience;
  • Support the maintenance of the company’s digital asset library, including uploading and cataloging imagery;
  • Research and write for the weekly internal newsletter; and
  • Provide support to the Communications department as required.

 

Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • Actively enrolled in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a degree in a related field, with at least one semester of education completed;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment;
  • Ability to accurately analyze information and deal with ambiguity;
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, with strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude;
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Attention to detail is critical;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Other Requirements and Information:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution and return to full time studies in the Fall; and
  • A hybrid work model may be available for this role (combination of in-office and remote work)
