Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Land and Right of Way Co-op Student (12-month term). In this position, you will play a key role in supporting a multidisciplinary team responsible for managing land rights and regulatory obligations. This role offers exposure to the legal, business and operational aspects of land administration, including property rights, contracts, regulatory compliance and data governance within the Land & Right of Way department. The successful candidate will bring strong research, data, records management, organizational, communication, and Microsoft Office 365 skills while gaining practical experience with Trans Mountain’s land systems and processes.

 

This position is based in our Calgary office and will report to the Manager, Land Administration.

 

Duration: January 11, 2027, to December 18, 2027.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing land administration projects through research, analysis, and reporting related to land agreements, land titles, commitments and conditions management, reclamation activities, local land use planning documents, municipal bylaws, web-based mapping applications, and regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, data migration and governance activities, third-party correspondence, document and file preparation, simple GIS map creation, reporting and presentations, Major Project readiness, file organization, and other operational and administrative support functions within the Land & Right of Way department.
  • Assist with land records management activities, including data entry, validation, quality assurance reviews, document management, and the identification and resolution of deficiencies within Borealis and related land administration systems, including Major Projects integration, data migration, and GIS integration initiatives.
  • Collaborate with land professionals across operations, projects, regulatory, legal, Indigenous relations, and environmental teams to gain insight into how land administration supports the safe and compliant operation of pipeline infrastructure.

 

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Must be enrolled in land administration, business, paralegal studies, land management, planning, geography, environmental studies, or a related program, preferably in second or third year.
  • Enrollment in your institution's co-op program is a requirement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with strong research, analysis, data entry, records management, communication, and stakeholder service skills.
  • Experience using internal and external databases and software applications; knowledge of ArcGIS, GIS web map applications, Borealis, records management systems, and data entry protocols is considered an asset.
  • A consistent track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

 

The expected pay range for this position is $23.55 to $31.59 CAD per hour.
