Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values-driven individual to join our dynamic team as Manager, HR Business Partnerships. In this position, you will play a key role in leading the delivery of strategic HR counsel to leaders across workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, talent management, conflict management, and risk mitigation. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in HR policies, investigations, organizational design, vendor management, diversity, and Employment Equity obligations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the HR Business Partner team.
  • Counsel and advise leaders with respect to workforce planning for both strategic and tactical aspects with the understanding of internal and the external market conditions and considerations while monitoring and tracking progress.
  • Identify, research and recommend policy development to ensure consistency throughout Trans Mountain, ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance and legal requirements.
  • Provide Human Resources advice and support to leaders and employees, including counsel on the interpretation and application of company policies.
  • Lead or support emerging HR projects, including research and recommendations that consider potential business impacts.
  • Coach leaders on employee relations matters, including career development, performance management, progressive discipline, and termination procedures when appropriate.
  • Facilitate legal and executive review when required.
  • Broker relationship between the business and HR to ensure a focus on HR strategies related to business needs and maintain client satisfaction and identify performance gaps, emerging trends and recommend solutions for consideration.
  • Understand business strategy, operational plans, financials, history, and culture to inform, influence, engage and operationalize HR programs and solutions.
  • Lead investigations and report writing as required, including recommendations to address workplace issues.

 

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, or related discipline.
  • CPHR designation is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Knowledge of investigation processes and protocols.
  • Compensation knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in recruitment and talent management.
  • Employee relations experience, including performance management
  • Collaborative and supportive leader with a passion for mentoring, coaching, developing talent, fostering teamwork, and guiding others through difficult conversations with empathy, tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • A consistent track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Maintains confidentiality, calm under pressure and demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, professionally, and with sound judgment in both routine and high-stakes situations.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
