Mechanical Drafter

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

With our expanded pipeline system now in place, Trans Mountain provides enhanced direct access for Canadian crude oil to world markets. As a Mechanical Drafter with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of experts in the Engineering & Drafting department.

The Mechanical Drafter develops, maintains, and administrates engineering drawings for the pipelines and facilities owned and operated by Trans Mountain Canada. It also provides drafting and design services for all departments within Trans Mountain Canada and assists in the administration of the Trans Mountain Drawing Management system and drafting standards.

This position is based in our Calgary Head Office and reports to Supervisor, Drafting.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports external companies (EPC’s) developing engineering drawings for Trans Mountain capital projects.
• Develops and maintains mechanical piping drawings, P&ID’s and piping 3D models for Trans Mountain pipeline assets.
• Produces "Issued for Construction" and "As-Built" mechanical/piping drawings for Trans Mountain Engineering and Operations projects executed in house.
• Assists in the administration of the drafting standards and the engineering drawing database.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Accredited education in Drafting Technology with a Diploma or certificate in drafting and design.
• Certified or Registered Engineering Technologist is an asset.
• 5-10 years of progressive AutoCAD experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Advanced knowledge in 3D piping design drafting using Bentley AutoPlant Software.
• Advanced knowledge of midstream pipeline facility mechanical piping drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to be successful in an agile work environment.
• Strong attention to detail and technical writing skills.
• Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills.
