As a Pipeline Integrity Co-op Student (8 or 12 months) with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group in the Technical Services Department.

This position is based in our Calgary office. 

 

This opportunity is open to post-secondary students who are currently enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd year of studies and is part of a Co-op or Internship Program.

 

The position will begin in May 2023 with a term length of 8 or 12 months.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with class location change management, including the following:
    • Assessment Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) 
    • Gathering pipeline datasets required for hydraulic assessments
    • Assisting in gathering regulatory filing requirements for areas of class location change
    • Coordinating with other internal departments to complete field-level surveys and assessments
    • Using engineering judgement in the review and acceptance of class assessment results from a third-party vendor software
    • Coordinating directly with field personnel and other business units and third-party consultants to ensure life-cycle management of class assessments
    • Assisting the Class Engineer in the regulatory filing of reportable class location changes
  • Assist in updating Pipeline Integrity technical documents, procedures and standards and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the Risk Engineer in the QA/QC of in-line inspection tool data, field dig information, and other pipeline integrity data prior to loading into the risk database.
  • Assist with the collection of Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP) pipe property datasets.
  • Assist the in-line inspection team with the planning of in-line inspection tool runs.
  • Assist with the data collection and filing of annual performance indicator reports.
  • Archive field coating evaluation reports.

 

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Currently working towards a post-secondary degree, in your 2nd or 3rd year of your Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Enrollment in your institution's co-op or internship program is a requirement.
  • Ability to take on tasks proactively.
  • Technical understanding of pipelines would be an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of software (ex., Outlook/Word/Excel/SharePoint/Teams).
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
