Kamloops Operations, Summer Student

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As a Kamloops Operations, Summer Student with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced group of Operation Technicians. The successful candidate will assist all work disciplines throughout the Kamloops district.

This position is based in our Kamloops Regional Office and will report to the Operations Supervisor.

Duration: May 5, 2025 to August 29, 2025

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide timely assistance to Field Technicians, increasing operational efficiency.
• Provide operational support and assistance to full time Trans Mountain staff.
• Assist with internal/external Audit inspection and preparation, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventory control for the District.
• Assist with building/grounds maintenance including tasks such as:
  • Operate lawn tractors/mowers/weed whackers: assisting with landscaping, fire control, and vegetation management throughout the district boundaries.
  • General station maintenance including painting, deficiency review and clean up.
  • Pressure washing, cleaning heavy duty equipment (Noxious Weed Control).
  • Signage repair at Pump Stations and or on the Right of Way.
  • Office furniture construction and or preparation.
  • Project planning and execution.
• Transport materials and supplies to and from site providing support to District Technicians.
• Assisting with hazardous waste documentation and removal.
• Re-coating small sections of pipe that have been identified through the Facility Pipe Inspection work orders.
• Scheduling and assisting with fleet vehicle maintenance appointments.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:

• Interest in a skilled trade considered an asset.
• Able to perform physically demanding duties and tasks.
• Previous landscape and or lawn maintenance work history would be an asset.
• Previous work history within an industrial setting would be an asset.
• Maintain a high regard for personal safety and the safety of company assets, employees, and the public.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft systems – Outlook/Word/Excel/Share Point/WebEx.
• Positive attitude, team player, strong work ethic and willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
• Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
• Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Assist with other team functions and provide support as necessary.

Other Requirements and Information:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies in the Fall.
• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

The expected pay range for this position is $21.81 to $27.47 CAD per hour.
