Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as Pipeline Protection Coordinator. In this position, you will support Pipeline Protection (PLP) and management system objectives for Trans Mountain Operations. The coordinator provides quality assurance for one call ticket response process, reports unauthorized activities in accordance with regulatory and Trans Mountain requirements, provides operational support to Permit Technicians, supports the development and implementation of Program documentation, engages with Pipeline Protection personnel to ensure best practices for unauthorized activity reporting, and assists the Program with metrics collection and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Canadian and US pipeline regulations and pipeline crossings and One-Call ticket management practices.
- Confirms requirements for locate responses, maps, databases, and other records associated with One Call tickets are accurate and complete.
- Reports unauthorized activities to the Regulator and through the Trans Mountain incident management system (Enablon).
- Responds in consultation with Pipeline Protection and Trans Mountain Regulatory, to information requests from the Canadian Energy Regulator (CER) related to unauthorized activities.
- Liaise with PLP Inspectors regarding one-call ticket responses and unauthorized activity investigations.
- Develops, implements, and maintains guidelines and procedures for one-call ticket response and quality assurance,
- Assists with Proximity Permit intake, review and coordination activities, including:
- Ensuring applications meet pipeline protection requirements prior to processing
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to clarify permit requirements
- Track permit statuses and maintain accurate documentation
- Identify discrepancies or risks in permit submissions and escalate to appropriate personnel as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of proximity permit processes
- Supports the Permit Technicians with the completion of preliminary locate requests
- Participates in emergency response activities and training by supporting incident management functions and coordinating field response efforts during operational incidents.
- Ensures alignment with regulatory and company standards for all aspects of the role.
- Maintains and updates the Damage Prevention SharePoint site.
- Assists in development of Program standards, procedures and metrics as required
Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Post-secondary diploma or degree
- Minimum of 3 years related industry experience.
- familiarity with Microsoft D365 suite of products, UtiliSphere, Abadata
- Capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
